Important Updates

Fire Restrictions 

Fire restrictions are in place for the City of South Lake Tahoe until further notice. No charcoal or wood fires are permitted during this time. The use of natural gas (NG), propane (LPG), or pellet BBQ grills, smokers, and gas firepits are permissible unless a red flag warning is issued. Campers are not allowed to use the fire rings and BBQ grills located on each campsite during this time. 

During Red Flag/Critical Fire Weather Conditions- All forms of open flame are prohibited during Red Flag/Critical Fire weather conditions. Please check this website for current restrictions before your visit. 

Restrooms Facilities are Limited

Due to the construction of a new recreation and aquatics center, the restroom facility located in C loop is closed. The campground is currently served by one main restrooms facility located in D loop and a small restroom facility located in F loop. Please check your confirmation emails for the bathroom and shower door code.   

When making reservations, review the campground map. 

No Electric or Water Hookups: At this time there are no sites with electric hookups or water hookups available. All sites are considered standard dry sites. Water is available at the campground entrance and a few community (shared) water spigots are located in each loop. 

Tent camping is available on all loops and sites. 

During early spring and late fall, possible inclement winter conditions exist. Please check the weather and road conditions before beginning your trip to Lake Tahoe.  

All reservations are made online only. The campground gatehouse and the telephone are not staffed during the winter months. For additional assistance email Campground by the Lake.
