Recreation and Swim Complex is Closed

The City of South Lake Tahoe, as part of El Dorado County, moved to the less restrictive Orange Tier starting Wednesday, April 7, 2021.

In anticipation of the tier change, the Recreation Services team has been working to reopen the pool. We will be announcing an opening date as soon as we are able to complete all pre-operations tasks. The opening date will be posted on this website, announced through city news alerts, and e-mails to our user groups. To sign up for city notification click here. New Recreation and Aquatics Center Project

The City of South Lake Tahoe is in the design process for the construction of a new Recreation and Aquatics Center and is seeking public input and participation. Swimming Pool

We are pleased to announce the pool repairs have been completed and our COVID-19 operations plan has been approved for limited lap swim by reservation only beginning Monday, November 2, 2020. For additional information about the pool or to make a reservation click here.  

Recreation Complex

The gymnasium, weight room, craft room, meeting rooms, kitchen, outdoor picnic area, and bathrooms are not open to the public at this time. 


The City of South Lake Tahoe Recreation & Swim Complex consists of the following:

  • 25-yard indoor/outdoor year-round swimming pool
  • Changing / shower facilities
  • Crafts room
  • Gymnasium
  • Pickleball
  • Kitchen
  • Outdoor volleyball and basketball courts
  • Parks and Recreation Department offices
  • Picnic area
  • Various meeting rooms
  • Weight room

 All children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older. This is consistent with California State Law and the California Public Risk Sharing Authority guidelines.
