ADA Compliance Information

Americans with Disabilities Act

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a program to determine compliance with state and federal regulations for making facilities accessible to people with disabilities. Newly constructed and remodeling projects in buildings to be made accessible for people with disabilities are required to meet these standards.

The ADA requirements are regulated on a case by case basis, each property having its own issues, which need to be addressed individually. Due to this variation, please email Dave Walker the City's CASP Inspector or call (530) 542-6072.

Accessibility Upgrade for Existing Facilities Requirements

The California Building Code requires 20% accessibility upgrades for certain alterations, structural repairs, or additions to building or facilities used as public buildings, public accommodations, commercial buildings, or public housing. Please refer to the Accessibility Upgrade Worksheet (PDF) to determine if your project requires compliance.
