The Project Area for the South Tahoe Redevelopment Agency (STRA) was adopted on June 28, 1988 by Ordinance NO. 746. The Project Area is located in the northeast portion of the City of South Lake Tahoe and encompasses approximately 174 acres. Major land uses include tourist facilities and commercial development. The Project Area generally runs along Highway 50 from just west of Ski Run Boulevard to the California-Nevada border.

The Redevelopment Plan provides the Agency with powers, duties and obligations to implement and continue its program for the redevelopment, rehabilitation, and revitalization of the Project Area. Because of the long- term nature of the Redevelopment Plan and the need to retain flexibility to respond to market and economic conditions, property owners and developer interests and opportunities as they arise, the Redevelopment Plan does not present a precise plan. Rather, the Redevelopment Plan represents a process and a basic framework within which specific projects have been established to achieve solutions that will eliminate blight, protect the environment and provide affordable housing.

The Redevelopment Agency Board of Directors formulates the policies of the Redevelopment Agency. The members of the board are comprised of the City Council members.

Five Year Implementation Plan – The attached Implementation Plan is a policy statement and has been prepared to update the status of projects and revise, as necessary, Agency priorities for redevelopment activities within the Project Area for the five-year period covered by this Plan. The Intent of the Plan is to guide Agency activities based on stated goals and objectives, and outlined projects, programs and expenditures.
