The City of South Lake Tahoe is looking to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), State of California and El Dorado County for guidance on best practices related to the COVID-19 health concerns. To ensure the safety of our residents, patrons and employees, the City Department of Development Services is making every effort to protect public health while maintaining essential services until the health risks have been reduced.
The Planning Division strongly encourages those interested in submitting a planning application to do so by using our electronic submittal process. Please download and complete the appropriate application on the Applications page and email the application, applicable documents, and credit card authorization form to email@example.com . Questions, corrections and/or notifications regarding the application will be emailed to the applicant by planning staff. Applications and checks (made out to the City of South Lake Tahoe) can also be mailed to the Planning Division, 1052 Tata Lane, South Lake Tahoe, California 96150.

Welcome to the Planning Division of the Development Services Department! The Planning Division is responsible for current and long range planning activities which implement the City’s General Plan.
Current planning activities include reviewing and permitting development activities to ensure new development and redevelopment projects are consistent with the City’s General Plan, Plan Area Statements, and Title 6, Development Services, of the South Lake Tahoe City Code.
The City’s planning, land use and zoning services are intended to protect, maintain and develop an attractive, safe, and healthy community by providing planning services to the general public, project applicants, and other City Departments.
